IC Bus CE Series vs Thomas
March 14, 2012
By:
On February 8th, 2012, Thomas issued a press release stating that their Cummins ISB 6.7L engine gets better fuel economy vs. our MaxxForce DT 6.7L engine, by 7-27%. However, after close evaluation, we found inconsistencies and proved their calculations to be misleading. For instance, their test was solely based on two vehicles with very different engines, made for different purposes. Back in 2011, an independent service conducted a test of the IC Bus CE series against the Thomas C2 with a Cummins ISB engine producing very different results. Their findings showed the IC Bus CE series had up to 4.5% better fluid economy among competitors, under a more consistent testing methodology, with proper testing procedures, mimicking real life driving conditions. In this document, you read how the procedure Thomas used contained flaws in both consistency and methodology, and ultimately, how our testing methods differed, yielding contrary results.
